  • 1 bell pepper diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce canned or fresh crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup green olives sliced
  • 1/3 cup raisins can be omitted
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • to taste salt and pepper

Step-by-Step Instructions for Authentic Cuban Beef Picadillo
  1. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.
  2. Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart. Cook for 6–8 minutes until browned.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce, cumin, oregano, and salt and pepper. Cook for an additional 3 minutes.
  4. Mix in olives and raisins. Simmer on low heat for 5–10 minutes.
  5. Serve warm over rice, alongside black beans and fried plantains.
