Ingredients

For the Tortellini
  • 9 oz refrigerated cheese tortellini Use refrigerated for the best texture; frozen can alter cooking time.
For the Coating
  • 1 tbsp olive oil Adds moisture and helps adhere the coating; substitute with spray oil for lower calories.
  • 1/4 cup finely grated parmesan cheese Provides a rich, cheesy flavor and crispy coating; use finely grated for better adhesion, avoiding shredded.
  • 1/4 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs Coating for a crunchy texture; substitute with panko for extra crispiness.
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder Adds a savory depth of flavor; fresh garlic can be used but adjust quantity as needed.
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning Enhances flavor complexity; substitute with ranch seasoning for a different profile.
  • 1/4 tsp salt Balances flavors; adjust to taste, especially if using seasoned breadcrumbs.
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper Adds slight heat; use more for additional spice.
For Garnish
  • 1 tsp chopped parsley Freshness and color contrast; omit if unavailable.

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Large Pot
  • mixing bowl

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by bringing a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add the tortellini and cook according to the package instructions until al dente, typically around 2–3 minutes. Once cooked, drain the tortellini and let them sit for 2–3 minutes to allow excess moisture to evaporate.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add the drained tortellini and drizzle with olive oil. Gently toss the tortellini until they are evenly coated in oil.
  3. Sprinkle the tortellini with parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Toss everything together until each tortellini is thoroughly coated.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for about 3–5 minutes.
  5. Carefully place the coated tortellini in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding.
  6. Air fry the tortellini for 8–10 minutes. Halfway through cooking, shake the basket to ensure even browning.
  7. Once golden and crispy, remove the tortellini from the air fryer and transfer to a serving bowl. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.
