Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Transfer the cooked beef to the crockpot, mix in ranch dressing mix, beef broth, cream of mushroom or chicken soup, and sour cream until combined.
  3. Add uncooked pasta shells to the crockpot and stir gently to distribute evenly.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 3.5 to 4 hours or high for about 2 hours without lifting the lid during cooking.
  5. About 10 minutes before serving, stir the mixture and top with shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Cover again until melted.
  6. Serve warm, stirring gently to incorporate the cheese. Garnish with dried parsley or Italian seasoning if desired.
