Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar, stirring until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add all-purpose flour and baking powder to the butter-sugar mixture and stir until a crumbly dough forms.
- Press the mixture into the bottom of the lined baking dish and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow the crust to cool completely in the baking dish.
- Wash and slice the strawberries, then toss them with a sprinkle of sugar to macerate for 10-15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy whipping cream with vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- Layer the macerated strawberries evenly over the cooled crust, then spread the whipped cream on top.
- Cut into squares and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
