Preparation Steps
- Wash and dry 1 pound of fresh strawberries, then slice into thin rounds. Reserve 8 slices for garnishing later.
- Combine the remaining sliced strawberries with 4 tablespoons of powdered sugar and let them macerate for 15 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, whip together 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, 4 tablespoons of powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla until stiff peaks form.
- Slice your chosen cake (3/4-inch cubes) for the dessert, ensuring to prepare enough to fill the 8 cups.
- Layer half of the macerated strawberry mixture into the bottom of each of the 8 plastic cups.
- Add 4-5 cubes of cake on top of the strawberry layer in each cup.
- Top with 3 tablespoons of whipped cream over the cake layer in each cup.
- Add another layer of strawberries on top of the whipped cream in each cup, followed by another layer of cake cubes.
- Finish each cup with 2 tablespoons of whipped cream and garnish with reserved strawberry slices.
- Serve immediately or chill for up to three hours before serving.
