Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare Apples: Wash and core the apples, then slice them thinly to about 1/8 inch. Toss in lemon juice, cinnamon, and brown sugar, then microwave for 1-2 minutes until slightly softened.
  2. Prepare Puff Pastry: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a floured surface to thin it out. Cut into 2-inch wide strips.
  3. Assemble Roses: Lay apple slices along one edge of the pastry strip, overlapping them. Fold the bottom half of the strip up over the apples, then roll to form a rose.
  4. Place in Muffin Tin: Pinch the base of each rose and place them upright in a greased muffin tin. Brush tops with egg wash.
  5. Bake: Transfer to the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  6. Cool & Serve: Allow roses to cool for 10 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm or with ice cream.

Notes

For best results, ensure apple slices are even for consistent baking. Be cautious with microwaving apples to prevent mushiness. Chill puff pastry if it becomes too warm.
