  • 50 g Butter/Ghee Ghee provides a more authentic flavor.
  • 1 large Onion
  • 4 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 1 inch Ginger Fresh, minced.
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Paste
  • 400 g Crushed Tomatoes
  • 150 ml Heavy Cream/Coconut Milk Coconut milk for dairy-free.
  • 1 tsp Sugar Optional, adjust based on taste.
  • 1 bunch Cilantro For garnishing.

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Marinate the chicken by combining Greek yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, and spices in a bowl. Coat the chicken thoroughly and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  2. Cook the chicken in a skillet over medium-high heat, or bake it in the oven at 400°F for 15-20 minutes until cooked through.
  3. In a separate pot, heat butter and oil over medium heat. Sauté chopped onions until golden, then add minced garlic and ginger.
  4. Add cumin, coriander, and smoked paprika to the onion mixture and toast for 30 seconds. Then mix in tomato paste and crushed tomatoes.
  5. Reduce the heat and stir in heavy cream or coconut milk, simmering gently to meld the flavors. Adjust seasoning if needed.
  6. Combine the grilled chicken with the sauce and simmer for 5 minutes, then garnish with lemon juice and cilantro.
  7. Serve the Chicken Tikka Masala with basmati rice, naan, or a fresh salad.
