Ingredients
  

For the Meatloaf Base
  • 1 package Vegetarian Meat Crumbles Can substitute with 2 cans of chickpeas or 1 cup of cooked lentils
  • 1/4 cup Butter Can be omitted for a lighter version
  • 1 medium Onion Diced and sautéed
  • 1 cup Bread Crumbs Use fresh hearty bread or soft breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese Omit for a dairy-free version
  • 2 large Eggs Acts as a binder
For the Flavoring
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Fresh garlic can be a flavorful alternative
  • 1 teaspoon Rubbed Sage Can substitute with thyme or Italian seasoning
For the Glaze
  • 1/2 cup Ketchup Barbecue sauce can be swapped for a different flavor
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar Adjust to taste

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté diced onion until translucent and slightly golden, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add vegetarian meat crumbles to the skillet and cook for approximately 5 minutes.
  4. Transfer mixture to a mixing bowl and add breadcrumbs, garlic powder, rubbed sage, shredded cheese, and eggs. Combine until fully mixed.
  5. Grease a loaf pan and pack the mixture into the pan, smoothing the top.
  6. In a small bowl, mix ketchup and brown sugar for the glaze, then spread it on top of the meat mixture.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until edges are browned.
  8. Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
