Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Crumble the crunchy amaretti biscuits and madeira loaf cake in a large mixing bowl until achieving a rough, sand-like texture.
  2. Divide the crumbled mixture evenly into 8 small serving glasses, pressing down for stability.
  3. Halve the cherries and distribute evenly over the biscuit base, then add a spoonful of cherry compote or jam.
  4. Beat the custard and double cream together until fluffy and well combined, around 2-3 minutes.
  5. Dollop the cream mixture generously on top of the layered ingredients in each glass.
  6. Scatter the flaked almonds over the cream layer and top with a halved cherry.
  7. Chill the assembled trifles in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
