  • 1 cup Onions Chopped, yellow or white
  • 1/2 cup Ketchup Can substitute with barbecue sauce
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce Essential for umami
  • 1 tbsp Taco Seasoning Premade or homemade
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch For thickening, optional
  • 1/2 cup Beef Broth Vegetable broth as alternative
  • 4 pieces Sandwich Buns Soft and sturdy
Optional Toppings
  • 4 slices Cheese Provolone or pepper jack
  • 1/2 cup Jalapeños Sliced, for spiciness
  • 1 cup Mushrooms Sautéed, optional topping

Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Wooden Spoon

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by heating a large skillet over medium heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil and let it warm for about 1 minute.
  2. Add the chopped bell peppers and onions to the skillet. Sauté them for about 3-4 minutes until they soften.
  3. Increase the heat slightly and add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned.
  4. Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, taco seasoning, and beef broth. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  5. If the sauce seems too thin, sprinkle in cornstarch and stir continuously, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  6. Slice your sandwich buns open and spoon the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each bun, topping with cheese if desired.
  7. Serve immediately while warm and gooey, optionally with fries or a salad.
