Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by slicing your sourdough or crusty bread into two thick pieces, approximately 1-inch thick. Lay them flat on a clean cutting board.
  2. On one slice of the bread, sprinkle a generous layer of grated cheese, followed by slices of fresh mozzarella, and a delicate arrangement of prosciutto.
  3. Place fresh basil leaves on top of the prosciutto, then spread basil pesto over it.
  4. Top with the second slice of bread and press down slightly to hold everything together.
  5. Spread a thin layer of butter over the outer sides of both sandwich slices.
  6. Preheat a skillet over medium heat, then grill the sandwich for about 5 minutes on one side or until golden brown.
  7. Flip the sandwich and grill for another 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the exterior is crunchy.
