Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Bring salted water to a rolling boil, add lasagna noodles, and cook until al dente (about 8-10 minutes). Drain and lay flat on a kitchen towel.
  3. Combine ricotta cheese, beaten egg, half of the grated Parmesan, chopped basil, salt, and black pepper in a mixing bowl. Stir until smooth.
  4. Pour marinara sauce into a medium bowl. Add optional spices if desired.
  5. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of the baking dish. Layer three noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, shredded mozzarella, and more marinara sauce.
  6. Repeat layering with remaining ingredients, ending with noodles, marinara, mozzarella, and the rest of the grated Parmesan.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  8. Allow the lasagna to rest for at least 15 minutes before serving.
