Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced medium onion and sauté for 12-15 minutes until soft and caramelized.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  3. Slice Hawaiian sweet rolls horizontally, keeping tops and bottoms connected. Place bottom halves in the greased baking dish.
  4. Layer half of the provolone cheese over the bottom halves, followed by sliced deli roast beef and sautéed onions, then top with remaining provolone cheese.
  5. Place the top halves of the rolls over the layered fillings. Mix melted unsalted butter and dried onion soup mix, and brush over the tops.
  6. Cover loosely with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and return to oven for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Prepare au jus gravy mix according to package instructions with water in a saucepan.
  8. Remove sliders from oven, let cool slightly, cut apart, and serve hot with au jus on the side for dipping.
