Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy. Mix in eggs, vanilla, buttermilk, maple syrup, and mashed bananas.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared dish and bake for 45–55 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- For the sauce, melt butter with brown sugar, stir in cream, and simmer for 2–3 minutes. Add vanilla extract.
- Once the cake is out, poke holes and pour the toffee sauce over it. Let it soak for at least an hour.
- Serve slices with more sauce and enjoy with ice cream or whipped cream.
