Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy. Mix in eggs, vanilla, buttermilk, maple syrup, and mashed bananas.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared dish and bake for 45–55 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. For the sauce, melt butter with brown sugar, stir in cream, and simmer for 2–3 minutes. Add vanilla extract.
  7. Once the cake is out, poke holes and pour the toffee sauce over it. Let it soak for at least an hour.
  8. Serve slices with more sauce and enjoy with ice cream or whipped cream.
